Bologna's Reno: Waterways and Urban Legacies
Wednesday June 10, 2026, h. 17:30-19:30
Bologna. Meeting point: Opificio delle Acque

For centuries, human labor and the work of water have unfolded in parallel along Bologna's water network. This walking tour aims to highlight the urban dimension of the Reno river and the diverse identities shaped by its canalization system, particularly the Cavaticcio and Navile canals. Enriched by experts in water infrastructure management, history and heritage, the itinerary traces the evolution from multifunctional lifelines to fragmentation of the water landscape. It also spotlights ecological transition policies and recent public space interventions - from the Cavaticcio garden to the reopening of the Reno canal - inviting reflection on memory, ecology, and the city's future.
