Marecchia is still water. Walking through a former riverbed
Friday June 12, 2026, h. 18.00-20.00
Rimini. Meeting point: Porta Galliana

The waters of the river and the sea once met where Parco Marecchia now lies. Although the river course was diverted to protect the city from recurrent flooding, water still inhabits and shapes this landscape through groundwater, seasonal ponds, and wetland traces. Starting from the old harbour of Rimini and moving upstream towards Parco XXV Aprile, the walk crosses the transition from maritime to fluvial landscapes, retracing the historical relationship between river, sea, and the ongoing transformation of the area. Through walking and shared observation, participants are invited to rediscover the hidden presence of water within the landscape and reflect on its role in shaping local ecology, biodiversity, and possible future scenarios for the park.
